I prefer knee-length shorts. Anything shorter either leaves skin bare which results in chafing or the shorts ride up. I found these longer than knee-length shorts for $4 at a second-hand store. They are at a strange length. If you're going to wear something mid-calf, why not go ahead and wear a full pair of pants? Actually, in summer, I prefer ankle-length pants in twill, but couldn't find anything that I liked and that fit, so this year, I ended up with these odd short pants. The picture on the right is when they are hemmed to mid-knee. I used a pair that is about to wear out to mark the length. I probably could have taken another inch off for a more flattering length, but too bad. I'm not messing with them any more.
Hi! I live in Virginia. My mom taught me to sew. I think I started at 4 or 5 by sewing buttons onto a handkerchief, but don't trust my memory. That was a long time ago. As a teenager, I was more interested in completing projects than learning good sewing techniques. Now, I am teaching myself some things I missed. My sewing interests are in learning to make alterations to and draft patterns to fit my petite 4'11" tall, 32" chest, 45" hip body.
