I did finish seven pairs of underpants and hem a few pairs of new jeans. Boring sewing, but I love it when my clothes fit me, so I make myself do it. Plus, as a library director who looks young, I feel more confident if I look more put together than I would with too-long pants or underpants that make me squirmy. Comfort and visual neatness rule my clothing choices. (And comfort to me means well-fitting jeans, not sweatpants.)
I don't know what I'll do if I ever can't make my own underpants. Store bought never fits right. When I make them, I can have 100% cotton that doesn't show lines outside most of my trousers. Most store-bought pairs can't do that. And I can have the colors and cut I want. Useful, but boring, sewing. Sewing my own is more expensive than a 3-pack of Hanes, but last year I broke down the cost to $5 per pair plus labor. That's reasonable to me.
And now I need to eat breakfast and leave for a library director's meeting.
